Buyer Beware – Football Ticket Scam

As some of you may know, I attend a few of the Manchester United Reserves fixtures and this week was no exception. I took myself off to Old Trafford on Wednesday night to watch our reserve team play in the Northern Group Play-off against Blackburn Rovers Reserves.

Despite having the experience of first team members, Darren Fletcher and Rafael da Silva, we ended up losing the tie 2-1. Unfortunately however, this blog post is not a match report of the game.

Whilst at the game we got talking about whether we could get hold of tickets for the Blackburn game to go and hopefully celebrate Man United’s 19th title being secured at Ewood Park.

One of the lads said he had been given a contact and I should give it a try.

I emailed tickets4us@hotmail.co.uk and received a response almost immediately the email displayed the name Thomas Noon. “Thomas” then sent through a picture of the tickets and we agreed a price of £100 for the pair.

They then provided details of where to send the money and promised in return to send the tickets by Special Delivery the next day to guarantee that they would arrive on Friday in time for the game.

Here are the bank details I made the payment to:

Bank Halifax

Michael David Molyneux

Sort Code 11 04 68
Account 00740116

Iban - gb33hlsx110468007406116
Bic - bofsgb25

Yes, you’ve guessed it, once the payment had been made, I didn’t hear anything.

After sending several emails throughout yesterday, I was finally rewarded with a response that said “been sent mate don’t worry just mad busy”, however no tickets have been received and no tracking number was provided.

In hindsight, I know I was foolish, however the chance to see United secure title number 19 was too great a temptation.

Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire Police have now been informed and are making inquiries.

I would appreciate if you could share this information so that others are more careful than me and are not caught out by this scam.

I believe these posts are from the same person:
