Where have I been…

I made a promise to myself that I would blog at least once a week during 2011. I made it to the end of February before breaking this promise. Real-life got in the way…

I’ve not only neglected my own blog, I’ve not managed to find the time to write something worthy of being published on the two amazing blog sites that I have the honour of writing for.

So this is my attempt to get back in to the habit of writing again.

Last week I hired a couple of films out from Blockbuster, the first one I chose thinking that it would please the other half. It didn’t, it was supposed to be a Rom-Com, however it was possibly the worst film I have ever had to endure. I lost a few hours of my life that I’ll never get back. How Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian gave this pile of drivel 4 stars out of 5 astounds me, Tamara Drewe failed to raise even the smallest of giggles, not even a single raising of the corners of my mouth occurred during the 114 minutes.

The second film, I knew would not really be my wife’s cup of tea, however I’m a sucker for movies that are based on true stories. Balibo set in 1075, follows Australian journalist, Roger East, who at the request of the future President, sets off to East Timor to report on the truths behind the Indonesian invasion on the small country and to find out what happened to 5 young Australian journalists who disappeared 4 weeks earlier.

The film was gripping, horrific, informative and inspiring all at the same time. It was extremely well shot and I would definitely recommend it to any serious film lovers.
