Anderson signs contract extension

AndersonI know I’m a bit late to the party on this, forgive me, I’ve been battling with flu. However, I for one am ecstatic that Anderson, the very young Brazilian who signed for Manchester United together with the ever improving Nani back in 2007, has, this week, put pen to paper and extended his contract, committing him to Manchester United until the summer of 2015.

Anderson didn’t really light up Old Trafford on his arrival and had a torrid time with a serious knee injury last season, however his recent performances on the pitch have silenced his critics and amazingly, he even found the net with his first competitive goal against Valencia.

It might be too much to ask for him to go on and get double figures from here (by that, I mean score one more goal this season) but his creativity, energy and direct style will continue to develop and I’m sure he will become a permanent fixture in the United midfield. Let’s not forget he is still only 22! He’s come along way from the Champions League Final in Rome 18 months ago where he chased Barcelona shadows for most of the game (although he wasn’t the only player in a united shirt doing it that night).

Even earlier this season there has been talk of him exiting the Theatre of Dreams having not lived up to the potential that saw him signed from Porto.

However, lately the Old Trafford faithful has seen him produce some of the best football of his career, with an excellent performance against Valencia and most recently, in our 1 nil victory over Arsenal, proving that he has the skill and cool head to dominate the big games.

Let’s hope he can continue this rich vein of form and push on to be a really world-class player.

So, altogether now!

Anderson-son-son
He’s better than Kleberson;
Anderson-son-son
He’s our midfield magician;
To the left, to the right
Do the samba dance tonight;
He is class, with the brass
and he sh!ts on Fabregas…
